DIY Bobby Pin Earrings

I was inspired to create these fun DIY Nail Polish Painted Bobby Pin Earrings after seeing Alianne's striped ones over at the metric child.  This was a perfect midnight creative fix for me last night, as I had already had all the supplies.

Make some statement bobby pin earrings of your own, you won't regret it! Rummage around your home and get together at least 2 colors of nail polish, 10 bobby pins (I keep mine organized in a tic tac container), a piece of cardboard or hard paper, a pair of earring hooks, wire that matches the earring hooks, and a pair of long nosed pliers.  Follow the tutorial below to create some one of a kind dangling stunners!

I'm loving mine and can't wait to see what patterns you come up with.  This is a DIY not to MIS!

Enjoy,
Margo Isadora

1. Gather your supplies.

2. Line your 10 bobby pins up across your cardboard.

3. Separate the bobby pins into your two pairs of earrings.  Be sure to leave a bit of space between them, this will make painting easier!

4. Paint your pins with any design you like.

*I found that free handing it was the least hassle, I used the ridges in the pins to measure and make sure my earrings were symmetrical.

*Try a chevron print, stripes, shapes, or any other fun designs that come to mind.

5. Paint a design or solid color on the back, for those days when your hair is up.  (In my opinion the front is more important, so I didn't stress about the back.)

6. Let dry overnight!

7. Work on creating two identical triangle bobby pin hangers.  I twisted my wire, created a triangle, put the bobby pins on and then put the wire through the loop at the top of the triangle to secure it, before winding the wire into the earring hook. Repeat with the other earring!

* This is a make it work DIY moment with your fingers and long nosed pliers, I am not an expert with attaching Jewelery fixtures, experiment and see what works!

8. All done!

I predict that they will become a summer staple in my earring rotation :)

DIY Flower Easter Bonnet

My DIY Flower Easter Bonnet!
The homemade bonnets that parade down 5th Avenue each year on Easter Sunday always brighten my day.  I have worn vintage bonnets every year, but this is the first Easter that I made my own.  This is a quick tutorial for the fun flower bonnet that I will don at the parade today!

Celebrate the color, the bunnies, the bonnets, and the springtime fun that Easter brings!

Enjoy,
Margo Isadora

1. Buy Inexpensive Flowers

2.Pull the flowers off the stem and separate the petals from the green base and center.

3. Begin to reassemble your petals.  Combining different colors and types on one center.  Use the original green flower backing to secure it.

4. Find an old hat, to become the base of your bonnet.

5. Detach any decorations from your hat.

6. Heat up your glue gun, and have your pile of flowers and hat  ready!

7. Place flowers around hat to insure that you have enough before you start gluing.

8.Cut off tip of green stem backing.

9. Glue back of flower and begin to build your bonnet!
10.  Add on a couple butterflies and you have one festive flower bonnet!

11. Pair it with a yellow dress, flower tights, and fuchsia shoes and you are good to go!

Happy Easter!
